Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire Review

I thought that this book had a more interesting plot that than any of the other books so far. For the first time the focus the majority of the novel is not on Harry’s education but on the challenges of the Triwizard Tournament. It also provides an interesting new light as the reader knows how many challenges are left so we can anticipate more exciting chapters/scenes in a way that we have not been able to before. This creates a new level of suspense as we the reader and the characters try to work out the challenges and puzzles to save Harry.

It was nice to see throwbacks to the previous books as creatures and threats that Harry has already face appear and we can watch as he now deals with them at ease, showing us how much he has grown as a person and as a wizard. The characters in this take on a slightly darker edge as they can sense that things are not right from quite early on. They are more vigilant and cautious of everything which begins to create a shift from the more relaxed tone first three books and pressurised and serious tone of the last three books.
