Mid Year Book Freakout Tag

I’m a little late to the party, but I thought that I would do the Mid Year Book Freakout Tag. As I am doing my Book-A-Day challenge, I’m limiting myself to the first 182 books I read this year.

Best book you’ve read so far

I feel a little bit like this is cheating, as it is one of my favourite books, but to no-one’s surprise, my answer is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.

Best sequel you’ve read so far

Given my answer to the first question, my answer to the second is self evident.

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

I really like the podcast that this book stemmed from and am looking forward to reading it when I get the time.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I adored the first two books in the series, and hope the third one will be just as good.

Biggest disappointment

I found the ending of this series a little disappointing and out of character.

Biggest surprise

This series was recommended to me four years ago by an 11 year old, and I have to admit he was right. These books are good.

Favourite new author, either debut or new to you

K.A. Riley is the author of several YA dystopian trilogies, one of which I enjoyed very much.

Newest fictional crush

I’m aromantic and don’t get crushes I’m afraid.

Newest favourite characters

I quite enjoyed Sister Veronica Angelica from Sarah Sheridan’s the Convent.

A book that made you cry

I don’t cry at books, but this one made me angry and upset.

A book that made you happy

I thoroughly enjoyed the Renegades trilogy by Merissa Meyer, especially the depiction of a wholesome family with two dads.

The most beautiful book you’ve bought so far, or received

I’m interpreting this merely as a cover design question, and have picked We Free The Stars by Hafsah Faizal
